Hidden camera footage capturing the immoral antics of baggage handlers inside a plane at Miami International Airport was recently made public, exposing blatant theft from passenger luggage.

As part of an ongoing police investigation into thefts of this nature by airport staff, the Miami-Dade Police Department set up the camera in the hold to catch the culprits in the act. The footage of workers rummaging through the baggage, helping themselves to the contents serves to illuminate a much wider problem, encountered the world over. A CNN analysis of passenger property loss claims filed with the TSA from 2010 to 2014 details 30,621 claims of missing valuables, most of which had been packed in checked luggage, while the remaining thefts occurred at security checkpoints. The estimated total for lost property claims is US$2.5 million.
