Passengers at Helsinki airport will travel from the terminal to the aircraft on buses sporting different guises, representative of the Finnish culture. So far, three liveries have appeared on the ramp, introducing passengers the Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius, the traditional Finnish sauna and Formula 1, a sport dear to the nation.
“Sauna is such a fundamental part of the Finnish identity and culture that it had to be part of this theme bus concept. Jean Sibelius, again, doesn’t need much introduction. We wanted to dedicate one bus to Finland’s national composer,” says Siberg, adding, “Finns are a motor sports nation." Rally drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Mika Häkkinen are among the most famous Finns in the world, she adds.
Finavia will introduce further themes to the fleet during the year, to be revealed in due course. With a subtle nod as to their possible appearance, Siberg concludes: “there will be positive surprises, at least for music lovers.”
Finland's centenary celebrations began in January at Helsinki airport with the opening of a new Arctic World of Santa Claus area, an experience that allows you to see and experience Finland in fifteen minutes.
