Finland-themed airport buses at Helsinki

In acknowledgement of a century of independence, Finnish airport operator Finavia has brought a touch of Finland to the ramp with its new themed buses.

Passengers at Helsinki airport will travel from the terminal to the aircraft on buses sporting different guises, representative of the Finnish culture. So far, three liveries have appeared on the ramp, introducing passengers the Finnish national composer Jean Sibelius, the traditional Finnish sauna and Formula 1, a sport dear to the nation.

“We want to introduce all our passengers to our country, whether they stayed here for a week or only 30 minutes. With our theme buses it will not only be a smooth but surely memorable ride from the airplane to the terminal, says Katja Siberg, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Finavia

“Sauna is such a fundamental part of the Finnish identity and culture that it had to be part of this theme bus concept. Jean Sibelius, again, doesn’t need much introduction. We wanted to dedicate one bus to Finland’s national composer,” says Siberg, adding, “Finns are a motor sports nation." Rally drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Mika Häkkinen are among the most famous Finns in the world, she adds.

Finavia will introduce further themes to the fleet during the year, to be revealed in due course. With a subtle nod as to their possible appearance, Siberg concludes: “there will be positive surprises, at least for music lovers.”

Finland's centenary celebrations began in January at Helsinki airport with the opening of a new Arctic World of Santa Claus area, an experience that allows you to see and experience Finland in fifteen minutes.
