Emirates to launch freighter service to Yangon and Hanoi

As of August 3 this year, Emirates will begin a freighter service from Dubai to Yangon in Myanmar and Hanoi in Vietnam.

The daily flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER and provide cargo hold capacity of up to 20 tonnes. This route will be extended from Emirates SkyCargo’s existing weekly 777 freighter service, which flies between Dubai and Hanoi and offers 260 tonnes of capacity. The carrier additionally operates a 777 passenger flight to Ho Chi Minh City.

The new route has been initiated in response to the gradual movement of the manufacturing sector into Vietnam and Myanmar. It is thus anticipated that the airline will largely carry clothes and seafood from Yangon, and electronics and marine products from Hanoi.

The airline’s network in Southeast Asia will soon consist of 12 destinations in seven countries, with the addition of Cebu and Clark in the Philippines which are due to be launched March 30, 2016.
