Dnata launches temperature-sensitive cargo dollies

Announced yesterday, dnata Netherlands has become the latest in a string of handling companies to release its own temperature-controlled cargo dollies.

The two new dollies, specially designed to serve the ever-growing pharmaceuticals industry, make dnata the first handling company at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport to offer a closed, temperature-controlled solution for the transportation of temperature-sensitive goods from the dnata Pharma Centre to the aircraft.

Operated by dnata’s specially trained ramp staff, the environmentally-friendly dollies will also contribute to ISO 14001 due to their solar-powered operation.

“We have always taken pride in offering quality special handling, and are now extending our capabilities of pharma cargo handling. This will not only instill confidence in the industry but also showcase our capabilities to meet the specific needs of our customers,” said Erik de Goeij, CEO dnata Netherlands, adding that the movement of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals is one of the company’s core skills.

The dnata facility, which has been GDP-certified since April 2016 and has achieved IATA's CEIV certification, expects to handle some 40 tonnes of high-value, temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments in 2017.
