The 14 new 180kVA eGPUs will handle 33% of GPU utilisation at the airport and reduce fuel consumption by 550,000 litres annually.
The first four have entered service to support Emirates Engineering’s services and the other ten are expected to arrive in November.
The $4 million investment in eGPUs is part of dnata’s ongoing efforts to improve environmental efficiency by phasing out diesel-powered engines and switching to hybrid, electric or hydrogen wherever airports have the necessary infrastructure.
Jaffar Dawood, Senior Vice President, Airport Operations – UAE and MEA at dnata, said: “Our latest fleet investment underlines our ongoing commitment to using electric equipment wherever the airport’s infrastructure permits. It reflects our focus on environmental responsibility and aligns with both customer expectations and the airport’s sustainability efforts. In addition, it improves operational efficiency and reduces maintenance needs.”
