Total volume of cargo handled rose to 71,650 tonnes compared to 60,059 tonnes in April 2014, and equally passenger traffic increased over the same period by 15.5%. Also on the up is aircraft movements, which demonstrated a 14.4% growth compared to April last year, with 14,211 movements recorded this April compared to 12,420 logged last April.
Engineer Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operations Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said: "Abu Dhabi International Airport continues to maintain double-digit growth in passenger traffic, aircraft movement and cargo activity every month, making the airport one of the fastest growing aviation hubs in the world."
Business is surely set to continue in this upward trend in light of the current multi-billion dollar expansion project of Abu Dhabi International Airport, which is intended to increase overall capacity, including the addition of a second runway and third terminal as part of the redevelopment.
