BIAL appoints Çelebi to install BME at all Bengaluru airport airbridges

BIAL has appointed Çelebi to install and operate Bridge Mounted Equipment at all passenger boarding bridges of Terminals 1 & 2 at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.

The ground handler will also provide BME services to airlines at Terminal 1, which will be effective from January 2022 and from Terminal 2 at a date yet to be confirmed.

Çelebi will install the “2400 Power Coil” units and “3400 Pre-conditioned Air (PCA)” units in the coming weeks, which run on electric power and takes over the functions of the aircraft auxiliary power unit, while the aircraft is on ground.

  • Efficient and safer aircraft turn-around activity.

A Çelebi spokesman said: "BME allows airlines to achieve safer, and more economical operations during ground time. Additionally, it enables airlines to benefit by use of available airport infrastructure efficiently and achieve long-term cost benefits."
