BEUMER Group to unveil new baggage handling system at Inter Airport

Tech Talk
BEUMER Group will unveil its new baggage handling system at the Inter Airport show in Munich next month, using Augmented Reality.

The new system will transform the flow of baggage from a ‘push’ system into a ‘pull’ system, utilising baggage storage and batch building. The baggage storage significantly increases efficiency by allowing batches of bags to be ‘pulled’ from storage for speed-loading onto ULDs. The system also uses speed-loading and automated handling of ULDs and dollies by use of Automated Guided Vehicles.

A ground-breaking new feature is the introduction of the Reclaim on Demand concept. The objective of the new concept is to give the passengers greater flexibility in deciding when to collect their baggage by introducing self-service pick-up kiosks. This feature not only helps to enhance security for reclaimed baggage, but it also allows passengers to spend time in a reclaim shopping area before collecting their bags.

The new ultimate baggage handling system can be explored virtually at the Inter Airport exhibition, October 10 - 13. Using Augmented Reality, visitors will be able to take a virtual tour through a CrisBag Independent Carrier System, or ICS, part of BEUMER Group’s Crisplant product range.
