Baltic Ground Services to provide services for Turkish Cargo A330

Baltic Ground Services (BGS) greeted its first Turkish Cargo A330 aircraft at the Vilnius airport yesterday (April 19).

The Lithuanian ground handler provides aircraft and passenger services at 16 airports across Europe and has been providing ground handling and fuelling services for Turkish Airlines since 2012.

“We are happy to announce that BGS will continue working with this company by providing services for their Airbus A330 cargo aircraft. Of course, new opportunities come with new challenges. A new customer requires not only a lot of hard work, but also investment. We had to purchase new equipment and recruit additional staff,” commented Gytis Gumuliauskas, BGS CEO.

The three-year deal with Turkish Airlines will see the Airbus A330 operate twice-weekly scheduled flights, each of which can carry more than 70,000 kilogrammes of cargo.

BGS has operated at the Vilnius airport since the company's inception, where it has also provided services for DHL for over a decade. In recent years, BGS has been actively expanding into foreign markets, beginning fuelling services at the Czech Ostrava airport in 2017 and establishing a new company in Germany. This year, the handler has plans for development in Asia.
