The largest cargo handling company at Riga International Airport generated €1.16 million of operating revenue, up 10% year-on-year and a net profit of €64,000, almost three times higher than the previous year.
In 2024, the Baltic Cargo Center, which is airBaltic’s hub for cargo operations, handled 21,000 flights carrying cargo and mail.
Arvids Maurans, Chairman of the Board of the Baltic Cargo Center, said that 2024 was a resilient and forward-looking year in the face of geopolitical pressures and shifting cargo logistics in the region.
He said: “We strengthened our core operations, maintained client trust, and laid the groundwork for future growth. The move to the new Baltic Cargo Hub will significantly boost our capacity and enable us to offer even more efficient, secure and modern cargo handling services at RIX Riga Airport.”
The Baltic Cargo Center operates at the Baltic Cargo Hub, a 6,895 sqm facility with direct apron access, advanced handling systems and semi-automatic sorting lines.
The new terminal is designed to handle general and special cargo with rooms for temperature-controlled shipments, dangerous goods, live animals and valuables.
