BA opens new lounge at Singapore

Lounge & Catering
Following a four month makeover, British Airways recently opened its new lounge, located at Terminal 1 of Changi airport: the first in the world to showcase the airline's brand new concept.

The Concorde Bar, to be found in the exclusive business and first class lounge, is a private area for first class passengers and top-tier Executive Club frequent flyers. Eligible passengers will be provided with a passcode to gain access to the area, where they will be met with luxurious oak floors and marble surfaces. A sophisticated ambience is achieved, courtesy of a digital display of the Singapore skyline, changing in synchronisation with the time of day.

In the main lounge, meanwhile, artwork from Singaporean and British artists scales the walls and desktop computers, high-speed, complimentary wi-fi and a wireless printer are all available. Also on offer are baggage storage facilities, televisions, bathrooms, baby change facilities and showers.

Robert Williams, BA's head of Asia Pacific sales, said of the development: "Our new lounge is a toast to the heritage and glamour of flying. Its environment is perfectly designed for and tailored around the needs of the modern premium traveller. I am confident that our customers, whether they are travelling on business or going on holiday, will enjoy the privacy, state-of-the-art facilities, and incredible artwork on offer."

The opening of the Singapore lounge is the most recent development in BA's SG$11bn (US$7.8bn) investment in improving the passenger experience, however further plans have since been announced. At the beginning of the month, the airline revealed that Dubai International Airport will be the second location after Singapore to feature the British Airways Concorde Bar, to be located in the Concourse D lounge.
