AKASOL supplies Goldhofer with batteries for pushback tractors

AKASOL is supplying Goldhofer with its high-performance battery system for pushback tractors, with the option to cooperate on other vehicles.

The AKASystem 15 OEM PRC 50 will be used with all Phoenix E towbar-less aircraft tractors.

The electrified tow tractor, with a 220kW electric drive, can tow widebody aircraft with a take-off weight of up to 352 tonnes and reaches speeds of up to 32km/h.

The Phoenix E can be charged at all common DC and AC charging stations, and using fast-charging technology, it can be charged from 20 to 80% in 30 minutes.

With the 165 kWh model, 15 pushbacks are possible when using 80% of capacity.

Sven Schulz, CEO of AKASOL says: “The advantages of electrified heavy-duty and special transport vehicles are evident: no CO2 emissions, lower noise emissions, and more comfortable driving characteristics with significantly higher efficiency at the same time.”

Following test operations of the Phoenix E at Munich and Zurich airports, the first vehicle is being presented at the GSE Expo in Las Vegas.
