Air France-KLM appoints Benjamin Smith as new CEO

The Board of Directors of Air France-KLM has appointed Benjamin Smith to the position Chief Executive Officer.

The decision, taken on August 16, will see Smith take up his new duties by September 30, 2018. Until then, Anne-Marie Couderc, non-executive Chairman of the Air France-KLM and Air France Boards, and the Management Committee consisting of three members, will continue to perform their duties.

Prior to his new role with Air France, Smith was Air Canada’s President Airlines and Chief Operating Officer. He has worked for the airline over the past two decades, having a pivotal role in the airline’s economic and commercial development.

Upon taking up his position as CEO, Smith will take over executive management of the Air-France-KLM Group and establish its organisational structure. As a priority, he will undertake to "revitalise Air France, to give a new strategic impulse to the Group and to work on a new leadership approach with all Air France-KLM’s teams."
