Programme revealed for 23rd Annual GHI Conference

Ground Handling
The programme has been revealed for the 23rd Annual GHI Conference at RAI Amsterdam, 29 November – 1 December.

Tackling the capacity crunch that led to a spate of delays, cancellations and negative PR for aviation in Europe and beyond last summer will be the headline topic for our opening panel discussion.

A special keynote summit takes place from 1110-1230 on 29 November titled:

The GHI Big Debate ‘Chaos at the airport – how does aviation fix the capacity crunch?’
Summer 2022 should have seen the industry basking in a glorious return to business after the dark days of Covid. Instead, the industry was publicly embarrassed by delays, cancellations, strikes and rampant staff shortages. Many passengers even abandoned holiday plans rather than chance being stranded at the airport. How did it go so badly wrong and what can the industry do to ensure it never happens again? GHI invites a panel of stakeholders to investigate. Key topics include: skills shortages; collaboration and coordination; pay, contracts and prices; and mitigating the impact of recession, inflation and global unrest in 2023.

Confirmed panel members: Stewart Angus, Senior Vice President International Airport Operations, dnata; Eoin Coates, Head of Aviation, European Transport Workers’ Federation; Richard Prince, CEO, Aviapartner; Miguel Gomez-Sjunnesson, EVP Europe, Menzies Aviation; Vivien Lau, Chief Executive, Jardine Aviation Services Group

Other programme highlights include:

  • Automation: the turnaround 2.0
  • Sustainability: from talking the talk to walking the walk
  • The financial outlook: out of the frying pan and into the fire?
  • Safety and skills shortages: staying alert in a time of crisis
  • Market analysis: where is Asia on the Covid recovery path?
