GHI hosts record breaking Americas

The 6th Americas GHI Conference brought the ground handling community finally together in person after two years disruption caused by the pandemic.

More than 500 delegates, almost 50 exhibitors and 23 sponsors signed up to be part of the largest GHI Americas conference to date in Miami this week.

During the welcome Max Gosney, GHI Conference Chairman told delegates he was both inspired and humbled by the attendees’ support for the event after a difficult couple of years and paid tribute to the industry for its strength and adaptability to the worst crisis to hit the aviation industry.

The conference started with recruitment – the most contentious issue facing the industry at present and looked at how to encourage people back into the industry and how to make people see aviation as a career and not just a job.

Other themes across the three-day conference included celebrating the invaluable role of cargo in boosting economies, equipment innovations, skills solutions and sustainability practices.

John Boult, Managing Director of Damarel Systems said: “This has been the biggest, busiest and most productive Americas conference that we’ve ever attended. The conference sessions were very insightful and the one-to-one meetings were very well organised. The speed networking event, in particular, generated business leads for us, which was an unexpected surprise – we’ll definitely be back.”

Tim Taylor, Director of Business Development, Wollard International said: “It’s gone beyond my expectations of a trade show. The team has been extraordinary in going the extra mile to ensure that I had the opportunity to meet the people that I came to see. This event has so much more intentionality than I have ever experienced elsewhere.”

Gosney said: “The aviation comeback is underway. We are thrilled to see the Americas community reunite again and so pleased with the feedback received from delegates that they have enjoyed themselves and made the business connections that they needed. We look forward to returning next year for our Americas conference – more details of which will follow soon.”
