COBUS Industries unveiled its Vega bus at the GSE Expo Europe, the first of a new series of fully electric buses from the company.

Unveiled at booth EX16 today (Tuesday 13 September) at 11am, it attracted large crowds who were eager to see the new product.

A completely new design, COBUS said it offers the largest passenger capacity in the market, with two buses being able to accommodate a Boeing 737-800 or Airbus A321 worth of passengers.

It is available in 2 widths, 2.7 or 3 metres and the lengths of 12 or 14 metres, and both come with 4 passenger doors on the right hand side.

Using proven technology from Caetanobus and Daimler Truck, COBUS said the Vega offers improved passenger and driver comfort due to the pneumatic suspension system, and an overall superior and safer driving performance.

Powered by the latest generation of nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries, it can be equipped in a modular system with either 2 or 4, offering a long battery life and range.

The electric axle is in the rear, reducing the amount of space that the drivetrain takes up that comes with diesel units, freeing up space in the front the additional passengers.
