WFS awarded UK contracts by ANA and Nouvelair

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has been awarded new cargo contracts in the UK by All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Nouvelair.

Japanese airline ANA has signed a 3-year agreement with WFS to provide offline cargo reception points at 11 regional airports, with WFS’ UK transport division providing road feeder services to move the cargo from the regions.

The airports are Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle.

ANA will continue working with its existing cargo handler at London’s Heathrow Airport.

WFS operates over 600 trucking services a week for airlines and freight forwarding customers in the UK, transporting over 50,000 tonnes of cargo annually via connections to 18 UK airports.

At Gatwick, Nouvelair has selected WFS as its cargo handling partner for 3 Airbus A320 passenger flights a week to the Tunisian capital, Tunis, awarding the handler a 3-year contract.

The airline will cut flights to 2 a week for the winter season but plans to enlarge its footprint at UK regional airports in 2023.

At Gatwick, WFS operates over 70,000 square feet of warehouse space and more than 200,000 square feet of airside yard capacity, handling 36,000 tonnes of cargo a year for 15 airline customers.

Jennifer Smith, UK Commercial Director – Cargo and Handling at WFS, said: “These new contracts reflect the scope of WFS’ cargo handling and road feeder operations in the UK. This gives our airline customers the opportunity to expand their customer service and revenue generation opportunities across the UK market because of the local reception points and reliable transport connections we can provide for their flight operations.”
