This has been designed to help prevent ramp and hangar accidents by tracking aircraft and other ground-based threats, and issuing a warning if they risk impacting another aircraft or vehicle.
Incorporating redundant sensors, patent-protected software, intelligent video and point-of threat alarms, the RampTrack system reduces the likelihood of aircraft damage during taxi and repositioning; it also helps eliminate potential hangar rash from contact with toolboxes, tugs and walls; and even guards against injury to personnel. As noted in the September/October issue of NBAA's Business Aviation Insider magazine, the historical average for a general aviation ground handling-related accident claims is US$105,000, a problem, in fact, that the RampTrack system was specifically developed to address.
Field testing of the production system is underway now at Banyan Air Service, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which is coincidentally the launch customer.
An affordable, easy-to-install solution that's customized for each installation, the RampTrack system also provides physical asset management and enhanced security through its unique multi-sensor interface and recording capability. In addition, it facilitates pro-active operations management and insurance claim tracking by collecting real-time data on ramp and hangar activity. Available now, the RampTrack system can be used in business, commercial and military aviation.
