The award was made during the 10th Nigerian Aviation Awards 2019 at the Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos State. The NIGAV Awards, which are tagged Nigeria’s most prestigious air transport development awards, have become the benchmark for excellence in promoting healthy competition and rewarding best practices.
The event was well attended by the cream of the aviation industry amongst whom were the Captains and Heads of aviation parastatals, airlines, ground handling companies and well-known personalities within the aviation industry. The award was presented to Dr (Barr) Taiwo Afolabi was for making an immense contribution to the aviation industry through his notable investment and leadership excellence. Since Dr Afolabi (through the SIFAX Group) bought SAHCO from the Federal Government in 2009, he has grown the company to triple its value before it was listed on the Nigerian Stock Market, in 2019.
