SAASA starts operations at new Jorge Chavez terminal

Servicios Aeroportuarios Andinos (SAASA) has started ramp and passenger services for commercial aircraft at the new Jorge Chavez International Airport terminal.

The ramp operation at AIJCH is part of the eight-year contract awarded to SAASA by Lima Airport Partners at an auction process organised by the concessionaire.

Enrique Vargas, General Manager of SAASA says that its operations at AIJCH have been assigned 6,000m2 to provide ramp services and maintain 500 square metres in the current terminal to serve cargo aircraft.

The cargo warehouse is located at an equal distance from the passenger aircraft area of the new airport and strategically close to the cargo aircraft area at the old terminal.

Vargas said: “We have contemplated an investment of more than $1 million for the expansion between 2000 and 2500 m2 of the cold room of this infrastructure, with the aim of covering the expected growth in exports and imports by air. We are in the technical studies phase and it is likely that it will be executed in six months, being operational in 2026.”

SAASA has operated at Jorge Chavez airport since 2015 and its airline portfolio includes Aercaribe, Air Europa, Boliviana de Aviacion, Iberia, JetBlue, Martinair and Volaris.

Vargas said: “Our goal is to bring to the new airport all the know-how, technology and efficiency that we have built in recent years, offering a first-class service that responds to the growing needs of the airline industry and our customers. We are ready to respond with agility, efficiency and security to the new flows of the AIJCH.”
