Record cargo traffic in Amsterdam for 2014

For Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's cargo traffic, 2014 was has proved to be a successful year, beating 2013 by 6.7%.

The final quarter of the year was once again its strongest, with total tonnage from October-December 2014 reaching 422,112 –3% more than the same period in 2013. Europe as a whole saw an 11.6% increase in total tonnage of cargo for the final quarter, while Latin America was up by 7%. Decreases were seen by Asia, whose total tonnage fell by 1% in the quarter, while the Middle East saw a 1.7% reduction.

For the year in its entirety, tonnage was up 6.7% for Amsterdam, reaching 1,633,195. North America showed the best growth, however, with an increase of 14% over 2013, closely followed by Europe (up 12.5%). Schiphol's cargo traffic continued to be beaten by Asia, which saw volumes 38.84% greater and North America (17.8%).
