Recent additions to the "E-Fleet operated by Fraport" project

Green Scene
Fraport continues to grow its fleet of electric-powered vehicles at its home base, Frankfurt airport.

The expansion sees the addition of 10 electric cars, as well as a prototype container-transport vehicle to be used in ground handling operations for carrying baggage to and from the aircraft.

The new container-transport vehicle, supplied by MULAG, is equipped with twin 80 volt lead-acid batteries which power the vehicle's two electric motors, enabling it to reach speeds of 25 kilometres per hour. The vehicle, which has a load capacity of seven tonnes, has so far generated promising results from day-to-day use, demonstrating an 80% energy saving compared to a diesel-powered vehicle, thus contributing to Fraport's overall carbon-reduction efforts at FRA. Additionally, ten battery-powered cars from Mitsubishi were added, funded in part by the German Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, as part of the Rhine-Main Electromobility Model Region initiative.
