QAS receives first Enhanced GSE certificate in the GCC

Qatar Aviation Services (QAS) has been awarded Enhanced Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Recognition Certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

IATA estimates that switching 75% of GSE including belt loaders, cargo loaders, passenger stairs and boarding bridges, to enhanced GSE could reduce ground damage costs by 42%.

To achieve certification, QAS exceeded the ratio of enhanced to non-enhanced GSE.

QAS is the first ground handling service provider in the Gulf Cooperation Council to receive the certificate, which is valid for two years.

QAS has invested in capabilities including anti-collision systems inching technology to improve vehicle control, enhance docking precision and minimise ground damage.

Murat Nursel, Senior Vice President of QAS, said: “Enhanced GSE plays a pivotal role in reducing the risk of accidents on the tarmac, ensuring safer ground operations for both personnel and aircraft. Our investment in these technologies reflects our dedication to delivering world-class service at the world’s best airport, while prioritising safety and sustainability.”
