Menzies Aviation strengthens Asian presence

Menzies Aviation has won three new contracts in south east Asia and China, helped by the appointment of a new Senior Vice President for the region.

A three-year contract with Indonesian carrier Rimbun Air will see Menzies handle up to 6 daily cargo flights for Boeing 737-300Fs at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta.

The contract adds 40 flights a week to Menzies’ operations in Jakarta.

In Jakarta, Raya Air has selected Menzies to handle four cargo flights a week, and is a new customer for Menzies.

My Indo Airlines has picked Menzies to provide freighter, ramp, and cargo services at Macau International Airport, initially on a two-year contract handling around 2,000 tonnes of cargo a year.

The contracts follow the appointment of James Wong as Senior Vice President South East Asia and China, a new role focusing on developing business in the region.

Raymond Lo has been reappointed as Macau Managing Director, bolstering Menzies’ joint venture in the special administrative region.

Alistair Reid, Executive Vice President – Oceania and South East Asia at Menzies Aviation, said, “We are pleased to announce our recent contract wins with Rimbun Air, My Indo Airlines and Raya Air alongside the appointment of James Wong as SVP South East Asia & China. James is based in Singapore and it’s great to see he is already strengthening our existing relationships and developing new partnerships. I am looking forward to working with him to develop our operations as the region continues to emerge from the pandemic and the associated travel restrictions.”
