JAL signs up LUG at Frankfurt airport

LUG aircargo handling is set to take over Japan Airlines’ customer portfolio on July 1 at Frankfurt airport.

LUG, a member of the Dettmer Group, which provides handling operations at both Frankfurt and Munich, will be handling the belly cargo of JAL’s 777-300ER and 787-900 operations to and from Frankfurt airport; the contract also allows for road-feeder services for JAL Cargo.

LUG aircargo handling believes that volumes will rise to between 800 and 1,000 tonnes per month and that the handler should benefit from JAL Cargo’s global network, since this will expand the former's market presence. Last year the company handled over 300,000 tonnes of cargo in total.
