Groundforce Portugal signs contract with new airlines

Groundforce Portugal has signed ground handling contracts with six new airlines and renewed contracts with 10 clients.

The company has thus increased its customers base with the arrival of LOT Polish Airlines, JetPak BVBA, Tarom, Air Seven, Swiss International Air Lines and Ukraine International, with the last two now flying to Madeira.

In addition to the new contracts, the largest Portuguese handler also renewed the contracts it already held with SATA Azores, Azul Airlines, Binter Canarias, Privilege Style, Enter Air, Air Moldova, Grupo TUI, Delta Air Lines, Air Moldova and Ural Airlines, continuing its partnership with these customers in the national airports.

The market outlook shows an accelerated recovery in all national airports where Groundforce Portugal is present. In the summer of 2021 (from June to August), traffic reached 56.1% of the aircraft movements in 2019, which represents a 200% increase when compared to 2020.

As for air cargo handling business, the figures were only 1.4% below the summer of 2019, with IATA forecasting global air cargo demand in 2021 exceed the annual levels of 2019 by 8% and by 13% in 2022.
