The contract between Fraport USA and the operating company PANYNJ has a term of five years. Newark airport, located southwest of Manhattan, New Jersey, is one of three major hubs in the New York metropolitan area. In 2018, Newark set a new passenger record with more than 46m passengers.
With the airport in Newark, Fraport USA has now won its third new retail concession in three years. The CEO of Fraport, Dr Stefan Schulte, was pleased with the award: "Newark will be our sixth location in the United States. Together with the Port Authority, we aim to further optimise processes at Newark airport and to offer passengers a high quality of stay through a modern and varied shopping offer."
Fraport USA will be responsible for the management of all retail and catering areas in Terminal B of this airport. On a total concession area of around 4,300 square metres, passengers in Terminal B of Newark Liberty have access to more than 30 individual shops and restaurants, as well as a duty-free shop.
