Frankfurt airport Perishable Centre gains CEIV accolade

Cargo Matters
The Perishable Centre Frankfurt has become the first CEIV-certified neutral logistics service provider at Frankfurt airport.

As well as products such as fish, meat, fruit, vegetables and flowers, the centre also handles sensitive pharmaceutical products. The certification of PCF, according to the specifications of the EU Guideline Good Distribution Practice (2013/C 343/01) at the beginning of 2015, which comprise the handling of goods and the provision of active and passive temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products for further transport, is proof of the Perishable Centre's status in the pharma supply chain. In order to continue to satisfy the adaptation to existing market requirements and the international quality standards within the pharma airfreight sector, the PCF considers itself obliged to work in accordance with the most up-to-date quality standards in order to provide the best possible resource within the airfreight industry.

The transport and handling of sensitive pharmaceutical products provides several challenges for airfreight. IATA’s pharma certification program looks to establish an international standard, taking into consideration infrastructure improvements and employee training, as well as control standards.
