The solution’s three levels include Emirates SkyFresh, SkyFresh Breathe and SkyFresh Active, which cater to different kinds of perishables requiring varying levels of cool chain protection. Emirates SkyFresh is the most basic solution, geared towards temperature tolerant fruits and vegetables, and will offer prompt ramp transportation and thermal protection using the Emirates SkyCargo White Cover blanket. Emirates SkyFresh Breathe caters for temperature sensitive perishables such as fresh flowers, ready-to-sell cut fruits and vegetables and fresh fish. This solution includes prioritised ground handling and use of the Emirates SkyFresh Ventilated Cool Dolly. SkyFresh Active will offer the highest protection for perishables unable to withstand any temperature fluctuation using specialised temperature controlled containers during transportation.
Emirates’ Ventilated Cool Dolly, Emirates SkyCargo’s latest innovative cool chain protection tool, is integral to preserving the freshness of perishable products. The dolly uses a ventilation system to bring in fresh air from outside, which is then filtered, cooled and circulated inside. With its aluminium and PU insulated panels, the dolly can carry up to 16 tonnes in weight and can fit a variety of belly hold/ lower deck ULDs in its interior, including pallets.
Using its fleet of 259 wide-bodied aircraft, which includes 15 freighters, Emirates SkyCargo transported nearly 400,000 tonnes of perishables across its global network last year, including salmon from Norway, strawberries from California and flowers from Ecuador.
