On the apron of Munich airport aircraft are now being moved by Goldhofer electric power, and are benefitting from resource-saving handling equipment.

Now in use at EFM, the handling company specialising in de-icing and aircraft towing at Munich airport, is an aircraft tow tractor equipped with the latest 700 V lithium-ion battery technology. Goldhofer's green pushback solution can effortlessly tow passenger aircraft up to a take-off weight of 352 tonnes, thus making the GSE suitable for handling wide-body aircraft. The flagship of the Memmingen-based manufacturer is named after the mythical bird Phoenix and can achieve speeds of up to 32 kilometres per hour, if required.
The Phoenix E is also equipped with a range extender that enables it to operate with diesel under exceptional circumstances.
