CEIV certification for ANA and Panalpina France

Cargo Matters
ANA has become the first Japan-based airline to be awarded IATA’s Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators pharma certification. Swiss cargo airline Panalpina France has also recently gained the accreditation.

The globally recognised pharmaceuticals handling accreditation aims to ensure a high-quality handling process, protecting the integrity of products during transportation from environmental factors, such as temperature variations. Companies applying for the certification must complete a check list that comprises about 250 rigorous audits.

ANA has implemented enhancements in various areas, which include organisational structure, training, quality management, and handling manual, enabling the airline to become the first in Japan to receive the award.

IATA’s CEIV certificate has been awarded to ANA's largest cargo operation located at Narita International airport in Tokyo. Swiss intercontinental air and ocean freight provider, Panalpina France, received the CEIV Pharma certification after Groupe ADP (Paris airport) initiated the CEIV Pharma certification process to ensure the integrity of products that transit through the airport.

The certification encompasses existing pharmaceutical standards and guidelines including the European Union's Good Distribution Practice and the World Health Organisation's Good Distribution Practices for pharmaceutical products.
