Asia Airfreight Terminal acquires IATA CEIV certification

AAT has successfully obtained the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators certification in pharmaceutical logistics from IATA.

The accreditation further demonstrates AAT’s commitment to service excellence in the handling of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals and special cargo to its customers.

This initiative was started by Airport Authority Hong Kong in the quest to make Hong Kong International airport a preferred gateway for pharmaceutical products. The certification verifies the high quality of the cold chain handling facilities in the AAT warehouse, which include upgraded cold room facilities, operational processes and manpower training.

Yvonne Ho, IATA’s General Manager for Hong Kong and Macau, congratulated AAT on its achievement and commented that, “CEIV Pharma ensures that facilities, equipment, operations and staff comply with all applicable standards, regulations and guidelines expected from pharmaceutical manufacturers and I am glad that AAT has achieved this standard of excellence.”

Kuah Boon Kiam, General Manager for AAT, remarked on the importance of pharmaceuticals handling in the specialised portfolio: “Pharmaceutical is an important market segment that is growing rapidly and AAT is proud to receive this certification that validates our capabilities to effectively handle this type of freight. We applaud AAHK’s drive to establish HKIA as a preferred hub for handling pharmaceuticals.”
