Cargo arm reshuffle at Singapore Airlines

For 16 years SIA Cargo has operated as an independent company but that is now set to change: next year will see the re-integration of SIA Cargo with its former parent airline, Singapore Airlines.

The plan is that SIA Cargo will become known as the Cargo Division: its business will not alter and the existing fleet of B747-400 freighters will continue in operation. The division will also manage belly freight for its parent company as well as Scoot and SilkAir. It is understood that the majority of SIA Cargo’s employees will be retained in the new Cargo Division, while some will be transferred to other SIA divisions.

Reasons cited for the change of tack have included improved efficiency and greater flexibility for staff deployment.
