The US$27m building will enable ground handling, commissary and cargo companies to operate closer to the James Richardson International terminal.
"WAA continues to redevelop our airport to meet the needs of travellers, airlines and tenants,” commented Barry Rempel, President and CEO of WAA. “Today’s announcement begins another stage of development for the airport campus, allowing us to make better use of our space to serve current tenants, attract new tenants and to continue to create jobs and drive the economy.”
Once complete, existing cargo campus tenants will relocate to the new GSE building, allowing space in the cargo area to be freed up for redevelopment.
Refrigeration trucks, beltloaders and tugs will all be housed in the GSE building, allowing them secure, airside access to the airport.
