Bahrain airport to introduce SITA self-service kiosks

In line with its objective to implement the IATA Fast Travel Initiative, Bahrain International airport will this year install self-service check-in kiosks, courtesy of SITA.

Six new ‘AirportConnect S4’ self-service kiosks will be introduced at the airport, with four kiosks to be placed in the economy check-in area and two reserved for the first and business class zones. The kiosks are being installed with a view to improving the passenger experience and increasing flexibility for airlines, which will also benefit from SITA’s technology, AirportHub. SITA says that this shared connectivity platform will enable airlines to migrate their back offices from legacy or direct connections systems to a cloud-based communication link.

In terms of design, the new kiosks feature large 19-inch touch-screens to improve the passenger check-in process.

Hani El-Assaad, SITA President, Middle East, India and Africa says of the development: “Kiosks have proven to be an extremely versatile interface for a wide range of airport functions and services. Having worked with airlines, airports and governments around the globe has allowed us to develop kiosk products across all touch points in the airport journey and SITA has already delivered more than 10,000 kiosks to airports and airlines globally.”
