AS Budapest to join forces with Menzies

Airport Service Budapest (AS Budapest) will acquire Menzies Aviation Hungary to create one company providing handling services at Budapest Airport.

The transaction, which needs to be approved by the Competition Authority, will transfer AS Budapest’s contracts and assets to the company, which will take on its employees.

The combined company will provide more efficient and competitive services at the airport, AS Budapest says.

AS Budapest provides ground handling services for several airlines at the airport covering passenger, cargo and aircraft handling services, as well as airport services and it operates the Skycourt Lounge.

Menzies Aviation Hungary has a strong customer base at the airport and is part of Menzies Aviation, the world's largest aviation service provider by countries, airports and aircraft turns.

Speaking about the agreement, Miguel Gomez Sjunnesson, EVP Europe, said: “Joining forces with AS Budapest not only extends our footprint at BUD airport, but marks the next step in our European growth journey. AS Budapest has a long track record and strong client base, and we look forward to combining this with our international expertise and extensive reach at more than 297 airports in 65 countries. Together, we are committed to enhancing the experience for our airline customers, airport partners and passengers travelling to Budapest, ensuring high quality services and operational excellence.”
