The majority-owned dnata subsidiary will provide ramp and passenger services in Rome, and has already committed to investing €20 million to purchase new ground support equipment including new advanced electric vehicles.

A local senior management team has been recruited and Airport Handling wants to employ over 1,800 aviation professionals at Fiumicino.

Airport Handling already provides services for over 60 airlines at Milan’s Malpensa and Linate airports, handling more than 22 million passengers and 82,000 flights annually.

Alberto Morosi, CEO of Airport Handling, said: “We are proud to have secured an operating licence at another leading Italian airport as a result of a highly competitive tender process. Expanding into Rome Fiumicino is a significant milestone that aligns with our growth strategy and underlines our commitment to consistently enhancing our operations.”
