Airbus has initiated the Sustainable Aviation Engagement Programme which aims to facilitate the lowering of airlines' environmental impact by providing tailored services and expertise.
Currently Cathay Pacific, British Airways and KLM are all participating in pilot projects before the programme is offered to the masses as of 2016. The programme will address specific objectives by airlines, utilising aircraft technology, aircraft operations, air traffic management and sustainable aviation fuels. All three carriers are awaiting first deliveries of Airbus' latest aircraft, the A350 XWB, and are already involved in collaborative projects with Airbus relating to aircraft noise reduction, end-of-life recycling and sustainable biofuel development.
