The only direct, scheduled freighter service between Canada and Latin America, this new service offers a 52-tonne cargo capacity to customers, along with new flights to Mexico City. Plans don’t end there either; as part of the duo’s agreement, a dedicated freighter service to Europe from Toronto is also intended to be introduced in the second half of the year.
Air Canada Cargo’s Vice President, Lise-Marie Turpin, commented on the partnership and newly launched services.“We're very excited with today's start-up of Air Canada Cargo service to Colombia and Peru, with a Mexico City service starting this weekend,” she said.
"Working with Cargojet, we are able to leverage and build upon Air Canada's extensive North American and international network to offer the only dedicated freighter service between Canada and Latin America.
"We look forward to continuing to grow our dedicated freighter network to Europe later this year," she concluded.
Ajay Virmani, President and CEO of Cargojet, remarked positively on the first flight of the new partnership: "This first flight is the beginning of a strategic relationship with Air Canada. It allows us to optimise our overall freighter aircraft utilisation and to expand our range of services and customer base with Air Canada," he remarked.
