ADM and Clariant introduce biobased propylene glycol de-icing fluid

GSE Focus
Last month, Archer Daniels Midland Company and Clariant announced the introduction of its biobased propylene glycol, which meets existing industry standards and can be used interchangeably with its petroleum-derived equivalent.

ADM Evolution Chemical's line of de-icing fluid is now utilised by Clariant's Safewing® and OctafloTM brands of aircraft de-icing fluids in North America. Safewing and Octaflo products made with ADM's biobased de-icing fluid fulfil all performance expectations and reduce carbon footprint.

Michael Willome, Global Head of Clariant's Industrial & Consumer Specialties Business Unit, commented: "Use of biobased propylene glycol, along with our innovative closed-loop aircraft de-icing fluid recycling technology, exemplifies Clariant's EcoTain® concept which embraces the design of sustainable products and processes."
