In December alone, Changi airport registered 177,360 air freight movements, representing a surge of 8.4%. Growth was recorded in imports, exports and transhipments, with the perishable and pharmaceutical segments demonstrating particularly good performance overall.
In an effort to bolster these areas of business, a cargo community was formed at the airport last year, with the objective of obtaining IATA’s Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) certification for its pharmaceuticals handling. At least one company from each are of the supply chain will undergo the CEIV Pharma certification, with the community already including the likes of Singapore Airlines Cargo, dnata Singapore, Expeditors Singapore and Schenker Singapore.
In addition to the establishment of a CEIV Pharma certified community, Changi Airport Group also joined Pharma.Aero, an association dedicated to achieving excellence end-to-end air transportation for pharma shipments.
