
Meanwhile, its international operating profits increased by 11% to US$613m, which represents the sixth consecutive quarter that the carrier has witnessed double-digit growth. The second quarter of the year saw a healthy 13% improvement in revenues for the supply chain and freight division of UPS, despite accepted weak conditions in the air forwarding sector.
The express giant’s supply chain and freight business saw second quarter revenues reach US$2.5bn compared with US$2.2bn last year; this was largely down to the acquisition of Coyote Logistics during the third quarter of 2015. UPS' Chairman and Chief Executive, David Abney, commented that the company was investing to expand its global network, and that it had been implementing new technologies as well as capturing new revenue in high growth markets.
