UPS flaunts its green credentials

Green Scene
UPS has just announced aggressive new sustainability goals to add more alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles to its fleet while increasing its reliance on renewable energy sources.

UPS has set itself an impressive goal: 25% of the electricity it consumes will come from renewable energy sources by 2025. That represents a dramatic increase from the 0.2% touted in 2016. In addition, by 2020 UPS plans that one in four of its new vehicles that are purchased annually will be an alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicle: this figure is up from 16% in 2016. The company has also set a new goal that, by 2025, 40% of all ground fuel will derive from sources other than conventional petrol and diesel, representing an increase from 19.6% in 2016.

Currently UPS operates more than 8,300 alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles worldwide: alternative fuels used include propane, electric, solar, hybrid and natural gas.
