The new subsidiary has already begun recruiting staff and launched its own dedicated website, unitedgroundexpress.com. Although a separate company, United Ground Express will align with United's customer service ethos.
"We are launching United Ground Express to provide flyer friendly service to travellers in more airports throughout North America," said Lynda Coffman, President of United Ground Express. "Additionally, we look forward to providing exciting job opportunities and creating diverse and inclusive work environments in the communities that we'll serve."
As of autumn this year, United Ground Express will provide a variety of handling services, including customer service, station operations and ramp and cargo services, at select airports around United's domestic network. From these airports, the subsidiary will contribute to providing customers with a travel experience that matches United's mainline service. When services commence, United Ground Express will provide ground handling services for United's new service to and from Kalamazoo, Michigan, starting December 9, 2015.
