Schiphol airport takes honours in 1m tonnes cargo category

Cargo Matters
Amsterdam's Schiphol has once again been ranked the top major European airport (over 1m tonnes per annum), in the latest Air Cargo Excellence Survey.

The airport category of the Air Cargo Excellence Awards is based on voting from airlines, which rank airports according to their judgment on performance, value, facilities and operations. Schiphol’s 2016 overall score was 111 points (113 for performance, 112 for value and 110 for facilities).

The Award winners were announced at a ceremony in Berlin, coinciding with IATA’s 2016 World Cargo Symposium, which attended by a large cross section of senior air cargo industry representatives. Said Schiphol’s Head of Cargo, Jonas van Stekelenburg: “This is the first award I have had the honour to receive on behalf of the airport, since taking up this post in late 2015.

“I am delighted that Schiphol continues to win the votes of the global airline community, in recognition of our ongoing efforts to streamline processes and provide the best possible proposition. Achievements like this award are the result of strong community collaboration, and hard work by all stakeholders and my team.

“As always, we are grateful to the organisers, and all those who have once again ranked Schiphol top in its category.”
