With safety uppermost in mind, Menzies Aviation’s administrative team in Santo Domingo recently spent a day airside, collecting foreign object debris.
FOD removal ensures that an airport remains a safe working an operating environment. The term includes any loose objects, fragments of equipment or tarmac, rubbish and even wildlife that have the potential to cause damage to equipment and aircraft, or to endanger or injure employees, passengers or crew.
Herbert Reyes, General Manager at Santo Domingo, commented on the exercise. “We are fully committed to ensuring a safe environment in Santo Domingo and to avoid incidents generated by any FOD. It is a great exercise for our administrative staff to get involved with to help generate awareness of the dangers debris can cause.”
