EPG provides KLM with cloud-based GHS

KLM has optimised its ground handling operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol by using the Ground Handling System (GHS) from Ehrhardt Partner Group (EPG).

EPG’s system replaces two independent systems with a single, integrated cloud-based system, which handles automated billing for services provided by KLM and for downstream third-party airlines.

The airline was previously operating two systems, one for fuel service billing and another for general ground handling.

Running two systems in parallel added complexity to workflows.

KLM has moved to a single system which consolidates all billing processes on the private cloud platform Ehrhardt Partner Xtended (EPX).

The migration required the seamless merging of both platforms and the integration of internal and external systems, each with their own datasets.

The on-site systems had to migrate to a cloud-based SaaS solution, which presented challenges to provide real-time flight schedule data and fuel management system integration.

This involved managing VPN connections, WebDAV interfaces and user permissions.

Collaboration between project teams and weekly alignment meetings between partners and end-users identified and resolved issues, moving the platform closer to its goal of a fully-integrated cloud-based system.

Viresh Doekhi, Business Product Analyst at KLM, said: “Despite numerous challenges, we achieved our ambitious goal through outstanding teamwork and relentless dedication from everyone involved."
