dnata awarded IEnvA for sustainable practices at Schiphol

dnata has been named the first ground handler in Europe to receive IATA’s environmental management certification following an assessment of operations at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

The IATA Environmental Assessment (IEnvA) is a certification programme which independently assesses aviation stakeholders to continuously improve their environmental and sustainability performance.

IATA’s evaluation assessed dnata’s sustainability practices and efforts across operations at Schiphol.

Jan van Anrooy, Managing Director of dnata Netherlands, said: “This accomplishment reflects our team’s dedication to environmental efficiency and our consistent efforts to contribute to dnata’s global decarbonisation journey. We will continue investing in infrastructure, equipment and process improvement to further reduce our environmental footprint.”

Rafael Schvartzman, Regional Vice President Europe at IATA, added: “This significant milestone demonstrates dnata Schiphol’s commitment to sustainable aviation and environmental excellence. By adhering to global environmental standards and best practices, dnata Schiphol is setting a strong example for the industry.”

dnata Netherlands has invested in the electrification of its ground handling fleet.

More than 70% of its GSE fleet is either electric- or solar-powered and the remainder run on 100% hydrotreated vegetable oil.

The dnata Cargo City Amsterdam, which is scheduled to open next year, will be equipped with solar panels, electric vehicle charging stations and air source heat pumps.

It will be Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) certified.

dnata was awarded IEnvA for operations in the UAE last year.
