Celebi Aviation breaks records at Budapest Airport

Celebi Aviation has handled record-breaking passenger numbers and cargo volumes at Budapest Airport.

Over the past two years, Celebi has increased its workforce by more than 200 employees, helping it achieve an 85.7% year-on-year increase in cargo volumes and a 15.9% rise in the number of flights served.

E-commerce has driven air cargo growth with Celebi optimising import procedures to cater for the sector’s unique demands.

In February, Celebi took over a dedicated 3,500 square metre expansion area for further growth in the Cargo City.

This was complemented by a 2,000 square metre expansion of its non-covered manipulation area, increasing capacity to manage peak freighter operations and prevent backlogs.

Passenger services were enhanced with the renovated lounge opening in November, which enhanced amenities to provide passengers with a comfortable service.

Celebi has embraced technological innovations at Budapest Airport with the implementation of Cargocel, its proprietary warehouse management system, alongside IKARUS, a ground handling service recording system.

IKARUS supports invoicing and has improved operational efficiency, enabling real-time tracking, streamlined document processing and reduced cargo processing times.
