Adelaide airport is developing Australia's largest airport rooftop solar installation on its car parking area in order to reduce its energy consumption and carbon emissions by 10%.
The solar panel system, which will be built by Solgen Energy, will be ten times larger than the existing farm at the airport, and will increase the total solar rooftop solar capacity to 1.28 megawatts.
The airport's domestic and international terminals already carry solar panels on their roofs: there, the 114 kilowatt solar system was actually commissioned in 2008. Work on this latest project is expected to be completed this year.
